Maryland House of Delegates Considers Tax on Professional Services Bill

The House of Delegates introduced a late filed bill, HB 1628, today which would include a tax on professional services, including real estate, in response to the Kirwan Commission.

As in the past, Maryland REALTORS has been in opposition to such legislation due to it’s impact on housing affordability as well as given the tremendous contribution real estate already provides to local governments and education; however, the Maryland REALTORS Legislative Committee will review this bill along with others on Monday (2/24) for a formal position.  Please know, along with our other priorities, this is one as well and we will keep you posted via alerts and the website.  A hearing may be as early as next week — please be ready to respond immediately to our Call for Action and additional advocacy efforts.
